Joan is Program Manager of Waterside Retirement Estates.  Prior to Waterside Joan taught art classes at Ringling College of Art and Design in the Healing Arts Program. She also taught art for The Sarasota Adult and Community Education Program and Longboat Key Art Center.  Aaronson's emphasis is on adult learning and healing.  Joan has taught classes at The Pines, Glenridge, Sarasota Bay Club, Camelot Estates, Desoto Beach Club, The Buckingham Club, Horizon Bay and Camelot East. Aaronson is part of The Art in Embassy Program  receiving a State Department grant as Art Ambassador to Rwanda, Africa.  It was a life changing experience to teach the survivors of the genocide and have work on  tour at the American Consulate in Havana, Cuba for three years..  In recognition she was invited to the White House where she had breakfast with Laura Bush and dinner with Colin Powell.  Joan believes in using and teaching art as a universal language.  She also designed for Princess Mirah of Bali Fabric for ten years.  Aaronson started the first accredited Fiber Arts program at Cape Cod Community College.
